The Identity Wobble™
Mapping Tool

A 10-minute orientation process for navigating growth, visibility, and identity shifts — without losing yourself in them.

Step 1 of 6

This tool is not here to fix anything.

It's here to orient you.

When you're in an identity shift — letting go of who you were, growing into who you're becoming — your mind does something predictable: it turns the discomfort into a verdict about you.

Mapping the wobble interrupts that. It turns "something is wrong with me" into "ah — this is the phase I'm in."

Answer honestly. There are no wrong responses. This is for you.

What's actually happening right now?

Select everything that's true. (More than one is common — that's the point.)

What does your wobble sound like?

Select the thoughts that feel most familiar — the ones that have been loudest lately.

When the wobble peaks, what do you reach for?

These are not bad habits. They're familiar safety behaviors. Naming them means you don't act on them unconsciously.

Write one thing you still know to be true about your work — even if you can't feel it right now.

Don't try to make it impressive. Just notice what's still there beneath the noise.

Which phase feels most like where you are right now?

Every wobble moves through five phases. You might feel elements of more than one — pick the one that feels closest.

Phase 01
Letting Go — I'm releasing an old identity, role, or way of proving my value. It hasn't fully landed yet. I feel the loss more than the gain.
Phase 02
Exposure — I'm being seen differently. Less execution, more presence. The imposter thoughts are loudest here.
Phase 03
Meaning Collapse — Nothing feels like it's working because I don't know what "working" looks like in this new version of me.
Phase 04
Nervous System Alarm — The pull to retreat feels most rational right now. I'm tempted to go back to what's familiar.
Phase 05
Integration — Something has quietly shifted. I feel steadier, less dependent on external proof. The work is starting to feel like mine.
Phase 03

You are in
Meaning Collapse

This is where old metrics no longer apply and new ones haven't arrived yet.

While you're here, you do not:

"This is the phase where my old proof no longer applies and my new proof hasn't stabilized yet."
The reframe that stops personalization — Identity Wobble™ Framework
1
Letting Go
Old proof of worth dissolves. You feel the loss before the gain.
2
Exposure
Being seen differently. Less execution, more presence. Imposter thoughts peak.
3
Meaning Collapse
Old metrics gone. New metrics not formed yet. Nothing feels like it's "working."
4
Nervous System Alarm
Retreat feels rational. The pull toward familiar paths is strongest here.
5
Integration
Quiet confidence returns. Less explaining. More trust. The work feels like yours.
— This is where you're headed.
